On Monday 7th April, 2008 at the 11th annual Internet Conference in state administration, the results of the prestigious competition the Golden Emblem 2008 were announced. During this competition, a special award is also granted annually by the Minister of Local Development for the best travel and tourism presentation website within the scope of cities and municipalities and tourist regions. In the field of regions, the award was granted for the second time to the travel and tourism portal www.East-Bohemia.info, the official project of the Pardubice region w. This success was acknowledged not only by the regional Commissioner Ivo Toman, but also by the Councillor of the Pardubice region responsible for travel and tourism Miloslav Macela: „This is the second time the travel and tourism portal has received the award. This is a sign that our way to promoting travel and tourism in the Pardubice region is leading in the right direction. Even statistics prove this, which are telling us that not only is the virtual visitor’s rate of the tourist portal increasing, but so is the actual rate of visitor’s to the Pardubice region." The ministry award also pleased the Project Manager Vít Pechanec of World Media Partners, s.r.o., which supplied the portal to the region and administrates its operations and development: „The award primarily delights us because a great number of new quality tourist portals have been established over the years, plus in several cases, with a budget two times to five times as great, and in spite of that we have managed to sustain the position of best portal. The development of information technology on the internet is advancing with incredible speed and it is only logical that newer portals use more modern technology, which gives them a certain advantage above our older projects. Defending our title is a confirmation of the work’s timeless quality, which we have supplied to the Pardubice region ." At the address www.East-Bohemia.info inhabitants and visitors to the region will find an extensive offer of information and inspiration for tourist regions in East Bohemia, and in a total of nine languages. Emphasis is placed on active leisure time. Of course it also includes information on landmarks and monuments, natural wonders, cultural events etc. The inspirational program serves as a holiday tip.
